View full auction inspection pictures and details for this Sprinter. This classic 1987 Toyota Sprinter AE86 GT APEX 3 door coupe was inspected for a client at USS Nagoya on 28 October 2016. It was the cleanest AE86 we have yet seen, and is the type of collector car we specialise in. This model became famous in Japan and then the rest of the world thanks to being featured in the Initial D series of Japanese manga and anime, then in Gran Turismo and other car racing video games. See AE86 Wiki for more details about the Toyota Sprinter AE86. This has led to increasing demand for the cleanest and most genuine examples, and therefore increasing prices which are discussed more at AE86 Prices on the Rise. This AE86 was in very close to original condition other than a few minor modifications. No past repairs, all original metal, virtually no rust whatsoever and looked to have been kept in very nice garaged and near original condition by someone that loved the car. Small dent with touch up paint on the right front bonnet, see picture. Couple of other small marks on the body but nothing major at all for a car of this age. 91,214 km certainly appeared genuine. Parts fitted included TEIN suspension, engine bay strut tower bar, Fujitsubo muffler and NARDI steering wheel. Underneath very clean as pictured. Timing belt was replaced not too long ago on 30 Jan 2012 when the car had done 87,625 km. Other small faults: scuffing on steering wheel, small split on driver’s seat, rear hatch struts needed regassing. Really not much else to say about the condition that the pictures don’t already convey. It was eligible for import to Australia under the existing 1988 and older rule. It sold for 1,965,000 YEN FOB which would have been approx. $30,400 landed in Australia at the time (at 80 Yen to the dollar, plus approx. $1,000 allowance for compliance, plus tyres if required and on road costs). Please note that this vehicle is an EXAMPLE only and is not available for sale. It is intended to provide a good indication of import prices at the date listed. Given time and the right budget, we can source for import another similar 1987 Toyota Sprinter AE86 GT APEX to order.
